What is your company all about?
Neopost USA® guides and supports organizations in how they send and receive communications and goods, helping them to better connect with their business environment. Founded in 1924, Neopost USA has grown to become a global leader in mailing solutions, and a major player in digital communications and shipping solutions. Our multi-carrier shipping practice (end parcel manifesting), in particular, has become a major part of how we help customers save time and money, and improve efficiencies within their supply chain.
What makes your company different than other companies in your industry?
Neopost USA has helped thousands of customers with multi-carrier shipping solutions for over 25 years. Our extensive experience with end parcel manifesting (one of the final points in the supply chain) is a major differentiator for our organization. Our acquisition in 2014 of ProShip Inc.®, an industry leader in multi-carrier shipping software (based on the adherence to speed, carrier compliance, and customer support), means that we are able to serve customers across a broad variety of technology platforms and types of supply chain integrations. Although many technology platforms (i.e. WMS, ERP, etc.) may include a native shipping platform, integrating a true parcel manifesting system that focuses on speed of transactions, carrier compliance, and customer support, is necessary to ensure that the full supply chain is more seamless. Additionally, Neopost USA's extensive experience and market penetration into the mailroom allows our customers to leverage our vast knowledge of the USPS®; knowledge that helps them save time and money.
What was your company's most recent greatest accomplishment?
Recently, Neopost USA was awarded a contract with one of the world's largest consumer electronics companies to implement shipping kiosks. These kiosks, running on the customer's own tablet devices, allow the customer's employees to access the company's preferred parcel shipping rates and services, granting a great deal of parcel shipment visibility. This serves as an important reminder that the principles of optimizing a company's supply chain can also be applied to the habits, practices, and workflows of that company's own employees.
What is the biggest challenge you face in your industry?
The changing landscape of new providers and more flexible shipment delivery mode options make customer choice in parcel and LTL shipping more critical than ever. Changes to parcel shipping, such as Dimensional (DIM) Weight have had a ripple effect throughout the supply chain--both upstream and downstream. The rise of new fees and surcharges (often billed long after the shipment has been delivered) make the visibility to these costs critical, especially for shippers who either bill back the shipping cost or who have to estimate these costs beforehand to offer their product at a reasonable price. Consequently, parcel and LTL freight shipping costs can make or break a supply chain's effect on organizational profitability.
Why is your company a CSCMP Corporate Member?
Parcel and LTL shipping are evolving and impact more parts of the supply chain than ever before. In essence, even the concept of how a package or pallet is conveyed from one party to another is being completely rethought, creating new organizational demands to meet customer needs. While parcel shipping is a core competency of Neopost USA, it is important to understand how parcel and LTL shipping affect, and are influenced by, other parts of the supply chain. CSCMP offers us the chance to interact with other important decision makers, access current information, and better understand customer needs across the supply chain.
